Local authorities and government institutions
When an organization that requests EMAS registration is a public institution, it is important to state that indirect environmental aspects, such as those arising from authority policies, may be more important and therefore the problems to be considered cannot be limited to just the structure organizational management and associated direct environmental aspects.
The political responsibilities of a public administration are in fact linked to the management of the territory and to the quality of life, present and future, of the citizens under its responsibility.
For some local authorities or government institutions, given the complexity of management and the aspects to be considered, it may be possible to accept a separate registration of parts of such organizations.
It is advisable that these organizations establish a reference environmental policy that each part of the organization can take.
