D- La Pianificazione

It is the phase in which the requirements that the organization must satisfy are established and the objectives and goals it wants to achieve are established, and finally a program (or programs) are set up to reach them.

Environmental aspects

In particular, ISO14001 par.4.3 requires that "the organization must establish and maintain a procedure (or procedures) to identify the environmental aspects of its activities, products or services that it can keep under control and on which it can be expected to have an influence, in order to determine those who have or may have significant impacts on the environment ".

Legal prescriptions

The organization must identify and have access to the legal provisions and other regulations and standards that apply to its environmental aspects.

Target & Objectives

Environmental objectives and targets must be set, documented and communicated throughout the organization. The objectives are "long term" such as eg "we will reduce waste destined for landfill".
The goals are "short term" of the type eg. "we will reduce emissions of organic substances by 20%, toxic waste by 30% by the end of this year".
The goals may vary for different sectors of an organization depending on the activity, products and services.

Environmental Management Program

One or more programs may be needed to achieve the objectives and goals set.
These programs assign responsibilities to the various functions of the organization and specify resources, means and time to achieve them.
